My desire is working with each client in a non-judgmental manner as they strive to overcome their difficulties and working together toward an authentic life. My approach is assisting clients in discovering and expressing their gifts, talents and desires through the creation of self-compassion, while providing hope and support for their goals.
My approach, training and experience is based on evidenced based practices and include a combination of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, (ACT). This eclectic approach allows for you to learn practical coping skills to assist you in addressing your immediate concerns, as well as therapies to aide in your long term growth toward your goals.
These approaches have been found to be effective in coping with a wide range of issues including Eating Disorders and other process Addictions, Substance Abuse, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders and Trauma.
I graduated from Capella University with Distinction in 2012 earning a Masters Degree in Addiction Counseling. I have obtained the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), the Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) credentials and certifications for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Traumatic Stress Studies from JRI in Boston, MA.
Additionally, I have experienced working at various levels of care, including a hospital crisis stabilization unit, residential programs, psychiatric and medical case management, contract agency employment and private practice. These opportunities have allowed me to gain a wide variety of experience in a multitude of behavioral health issues.
