Hi, I’m Skylar. I work with children from birth to age 10 and their families, including parents during pregnancy and postpartum. Caring for young children can be deeply rewarding and at times, incredibly hard. My heart is in walking alongside families through those moments: helping children feel safe, regulated, and understood, while supporting caregivers to feel informed, empowered, and confident. Together, we reflect on the experiences and patterns that shape family relationships across generations. I honor that you are the expert on your child and believe your instincts and intuition are essential guides in our work together.
My approach is attachment-based, relational, trauma-informed, and strengths-focused. In our work, children have space to explore, express, and make sense of their emotions through play, song, art, movement, and predictable routines. Caregivers learn to notice what a child’s behavior or big feelings are communicating, and together we strengthen the capacity to co-regulate, respond to stress, and foster resilience. I provide individualized, developmentally attuned care to meet each child and family where they are. I draw from frameworks that help families connect, repair, and grow, including Emotionally Responsive Practice, Circle of Security, Conscious Discipline, the Hand-Brain Model, and the Resilient Zone.
When big feelings or challenges arise, I approach them with curiosity rather than correction—sitting with what’s beneath the behavior and helping children and caregivers feel supported in those moments. My goal is to help children and families rediscover wonder, build trust, and strengthen bonds in everyday life, while celebrating the story and values of your family.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a foster care social worker and on a preschool child development team. These experiences taught me the power of early connection and deepened my commitment to making infant and early childhood mental health care accessible in the community I’ve called home for over 20 years.
Outside of work, I find grounding and joy in nature, travel, and simple living. I’ve spent months backpacking the Appalachian Trail, tend a garden at home, love cooking nourishing meals, raising chickens, and spending time with my husband, our dog, and family. I connect best through humor, play, and curiosity—the same way I show up in my work.
