Child and Family Therapist

Skylar Perkins, MSW, LCSWA

Hi, I’m Skylar. I work with children from birth to age 10 and their families, including parents during pregnancy and postpartum. I know that caring for young children can be both deeply rewarding and incredibly hard. My heart is in walking alongside families during these moments—helping children feel safe, regulated, and understood, while guiding caregivers to feel informed, empowered, and confident in their parenting, and reflecting together on the generational patterns and experiences that shape family relationships.

My approach is grounded in attachment, relational, trauma-informed, and strengths-based principles, guiding children and caregivers through attuned, developmentally appropriate strategies. I draw from frameworks like Emotionally Responsive Practice, Conscious Discipline, Circle of Security, and the Hand-Brain Model to nurture connection, co-regulation, and secure relationships.

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a foster care social worker and on a preschool child development team. These experiences deepened my commitment to making infant and early childhood mental health care more accessible here in the community I’ve called home for over 20 years. I hold a special place in my heart for supporting parents from pregnancy through the early years of parenting.

I believe every child and caregiver has strengths, resilience, and a story worth honoring. In our work together, I want you and your child to feel accepted exactly as you are. My role isn’t to “fix,” but to walk alongside you—to hold space for the hard parts, celebrate growth, and explore new ways forward together.

Outside of my work, I find grounding and joy in being outdoors, traveling, creative expression, and spending time with my husband, our dog, and family.
