Ellie Gutzke, MSW, LCSW

Clinician

Welcome to Hendersonville Counseling – we are so glad that you are here! My name is Ellie and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the beautiful state of North Carolina. Therapy is a process of self-discovery. My goal for each session is to create a warm, approachable, and safe environment in which clients feel heard, understood, and empowered exploring and addressing issues in therapy, while cultivating self-awareness and healthy coping skills. As a licensed clinician, I consistently strive to build a caring, authentic, and collaborative client-therapist relationship. Based on extensive research and many years of clinical experience, it is evidenced that fostering and nurturing the therapeutic alliance is the catalyst and essential for achieving and experiencing positive, lasting change in your relationships and well-being.

In my professional work, I have successfully helped clients identify and reach their goals and aspirations, find more meaning and purpose and effectively cope with challenging emotions, stress, and adversity. I wholeheartedly believe in the healing and change that therapy can bring people, and believe in the power of tapping into the creative and deeper part of self that allows opportunity for individuals to develop a better sense of who they are and process inner conflicts they may be experiencing. I believe each person is the best expert of his or her own lives, and each individual brings a unique set of strengths that often go untapped. With proper identification of the problem, uncovering the root of destructive patterns of behavior and thought, gaining insight and education, clients often become “unstuck” and are able to gain momentum to move forward with a sense of purpose and direction, and ultimately bringing new hope for a better quality of life.

My therapeutic approach encompasses a strengths-based, non-judgmental, supportive and interactive therapeutic style, drawing from a combination of several modalities to tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of each individual client, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Techniques, Attachment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Some of my areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, depression and anxiety, adjustment disorders, personality disorders (including Bipolar Personality, Borderline Personality), women’s issues, relationship problems, attachment issues, parent-child conflict, substance abuse, anger management, hoarding disorder, PTSD and trauma, guilt/shame, self-harm and suicidal ideation, attachment issues, eating disorders, self-esteem and body image issues, life transitions, and grief and loss.

Thank you for investing in this transformative journey towards emotional healing, self-discovery, and personal growth. We look forward to supporting and working alongside you!
