Clinical Social Work Intern

Brittney Frees

I am a Clinical Social Work Intern currently completing my field placement at Hendersonville Counseling while pursuing my graduate degree in social work at Louisiana State University. My path to social work has been shaped not only by my professional experiences, but also by my own journey through loss, grief, trauma, and mental health challenges. These experiences fuel my passion for creating a safe, empathetic, and empowering space for others navigating their own struggles.

Before beginning my social work training, I served in the military and have also worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with people of all ages. These roles strengthened my commitment to service, resilience, and holistic care. As a social work intern, I am building skills in assessment, individual and group counseling, and trauma-informed practice.

I am especially interested in supporting children, adolescents, and families as they work toward healing and resilience. My long-term goal is to integrate my lived experience, clinical training, and professional background into a practice that combines empathy, evidence-based interventions, and a deep respect for the strength of every client’s story.
